4-Year Degree - Forestry

Forestry education at UNH focuses on sustainable management of forests for biodiversity, productivity, and health, based on a multidisciplinary approach.

The program's goals are to provide a sound professional preparation, a broad general education, and the flexibility to cultivate special abilities and interests, leading to a bachelor of science forestry degree (B.S.F.), accredited by the Society of American Foresters.

Forestry graduates help answer major environmental challenges involving climate change, sustainable development and resource management, and biodiversity protection. They work to:

  • protect and restore forest ecosystems
  • assure a sustainable supply of forest products
  • provide wildlife habitat and recreational opportunities
  • care for soil and water resources

Society of American Foresters Career Center

Graduates can become licensed in New Hampshire and other states to practice forestry on private lands.
